Advice for the Naturally Thin Petite
Hi,
I’m 32, petite and also naturally quite thin, 5’2 and about 93 lbs. What types of age-appropriate clothes (styles and fabrics) would make my frame look more full (I have especially thin legs)?
Thank you so much,
Dawn

Hi Dawn,
First of all be proud and happy of your slender petite frame! I want to you to feel confident and embrace it, here are a few suggestions that may help and inspire you:
1. Voluminous skirt or dress with the fitted waist. This style and trend is perfect for your figure, highlighting your small waist and creating curves. Take inspiration from the look below:

3.1 Phillip Lim High Waist Jacquard Skirt
2. Don’t be shy to show your legs! Bare your stems in confidence by wearing opaque tights and textured styles that will add dimension to your legs and be the perfect canvas for one of your full skirts this season.
3. Feel free to wear your tights with pumps, but if you still feel shy, boots are always a fashionable choice. This season there are some great everyday styles with wedge heels and wide cuffs. Need inspiration click here.
4. Not everyone wants to wear a skirt or dress everyday (I’m an exception) so in terms of pants, try the tailored styles this season. The fashions of fall are more serious and mens wear inspired. Try a speckled wool blend, tweed or herringbone for a dress pants, all will add dimension.
5. On a side note, I would try rocking a pair of skinny jeans. You may think that this is counterproductive, but it will look hot – promise! Here’s some inspiration below, be inspired and give it a go!

Get inspired by this look.
As soon as I saw this outfit I knew that it has all the aspects to make the most out of your slender petite figure.
Here’s why:
1. This brand fits really small
2. The top is fitted to balance out the volume of the skirt.
3. The high waist accentuates the smallest part of you.
4. The volume in the skirt creates an gorgeous hourglass.
5. The belt ties it all together!

these are great tips, and since I also have skinny legs, do you have any recommendations for boots with smaller calf openings? i often see tips for people with wide calves, but what about us skinny legged gals?
Eh…Theory doesn’t run THAT small. Theory sizes are still too big for me (4’11″, 85 pounds and slim).
Hi Kelly,
Yes, you’re smaller then our friend Dawn here. If you’d like recommendations specific to your frame please feel free to email me
I really enjoyed theses tips. I'm about the same age and size as Dawn. The jury is still way way WAY out for me on the skinny jeans. Just haven't worked my way up to that yet.
