Recap: Etiquette Boutique Grand Opening Party

Last month, I attended the grand opening party for Etiquette Boutique’s second location here in Fort Lauderdale. Before the event, myself, along with other fabulous fashion bloggers including, Poise from  Styled with Poise, Afroza from The Chic Stylista, Alina of Sky Style Couture, April from April Golightly . We each pulled an outfit from Etiquettes amazing selection of clothes for a live model to wear during the event. The event was a huge hit and included a bar serving signature cocktails, a DJ spinning great music, and tasty cupcakes.

I styled my model in some high waisted white lace shorts paired with a light weight flowy blue tank. I accessorized the outfit with a beautiful blue jeweled statement necklace and strappy nude heels — making her legs look even LONGER than they already are. In this photo, I am wearing a maxi skirt I bought from Etiquette Boutique, basic black tank from Cynthia Rowley, black belt from Forever 21 and heels (not shown) from BCBG. My heels were extremely tall and my model still felt the need to bend her legs so she wasn’t towering over me as much (we’re not all blessed with such height).

The Petite Guide To Wearing Oversized Sweaters

Hi petites!

One of my readers recently emailed with a question regarding oversized sweaters and how to wear them on a petite frame.

“Hello PF, I love how oversized sweaters look on other people, but every time I have tried one on, it looks frumpy and I can’t help but feel like a little kid trying on mom’s clothes. Any advice on how to wear one so that it looks flattering on a petite frame? Any brands you would recommend?”

I wanted to share this topic with everyone because I know a lot of petites will be asking themselves the same question later this season. My answer is: if worn correctly, petites can definitely wear oversized sweaters. Of course, anytime something includes the word “oversized” you do want to make sure you’re wearing it and it’s not wearing you but like I always say, you can pull off just about anything if done right.

When it comes to oversized sweaters, just like many other items, it’s all in the proportions. As long as you aren’t wearing an oversized sweater that’s two sizes too big you should be fine. Instead, look for a sweater that’s just slightly oversized. When it comes to styling, I like to wear a slightly oversized cardigan sweater with leggings or skinny jeans and belt the cardigan — this gives you shape by creating a waist.

Here are a couple of favorite oversized sweaters from my closet.

Sunday Stroll In Old Navy

I never used to be a huge fan of Old Navy. Recently though, I’ve been coming across some great pieces. Their pants never used to fit me but the new Rockstar denim works great — with no hemming necessary. I tried the Rockstar denim back when they first came out and didn’t like the white because the fabric felt to thin which in return was a bit too see through. Fast forward almost a year and when I tried them on this time, I could tell they’d done something about it. The fabric is a much better quality and bright white instead of that weird yellowish tint they had last time so I bought a pair and I’ve been living in them ever since (okay, not really but pretty close).

Review: The Sunset Sweat Pant From Allison Izu

Petite clothing designer, Allison Izu knows what she’s doing when it comes to designing for the petite frame.  Just recently, Allison sent me a pair of her Sunset Sweat Pants.  Sweat pants? I know it might sound weird but don’t let the term ‘sweat pant’ throw you off because these are far from your normal sweats.  While they’re definitely just as comfortable, they’re WAY more stylish than the average Hanes.  Even though I styled the pants with an espadrille wedge for this photo shoot they’re great with flat sandals too (trust me, I wore them to the store with flip flops earlier today).  They’re stylish, comfortable, versatile and best of all, made for petites!

Pant details:

  • Front Rise: 11 1/2″
  • Back Rise: 13 1/2″
  • Leg Opening:  Elastic 6″
  • Inseam:  22″
  • Side seam pockets and pleated back pockets.
  • 98% Cotton/2% Elastine
  • Made in Hawaii (Aloha!) 🙂

You can find the Sunset Sweat Pants online here and for a limited time, Petite Fashionista readers can take 20% off of $98 or more at! Use code: PETITEFASHIONISTA at checkout.
