Recap: Etiquette Boutique Grand Opening Party

Last month, I attended the grand opening party for Etiquette Boutique’s second location here in Fort Lauderdale. Before the event, myself, along with other fabulous fashion bloggers including, Poise from  Styled with Poise, Afroza from The Chic Stylista, Alina of Sky Style Couture, April from April Golightly . We each pulled an outfit from Etiquettes amazing selection of clothes for a live model to wear during the event. The event was a huge hit and included a bar serving signature cocktails, a DJ spinning great music, and tasty cupcakes.

I styled my model in some high waisted white lace shorts paired with a light weight flowy blue tank. I accessorized the outfit with a beautiful blue jeweled statement necklace and strappy nude heels — making her legs look even LONGER than they already are. In this photo, I am wearing a maxi skirt I bought from Etiquette Boutique, basic black tank from Cynthia Rowley, black belt from Forever 21 and heels (not shown) from BCBG. My heels were extremely tall and my model still felt the need to bend her legs so she wasn’t towering over me as much (we’re not all blessed with such height).

New York State of Mind: Springtime in the City

I was so excited to head to New York City again this month. This was only my second time to the “Big Apple”, my first being this past December during the holidays which was fantastic but cold to say the least. Going from 80 degrees in South Florida to a bone chilling 19 degrees and snow in NYC was a shocker but I still loved every minute. This trip was a little different but still a bit chilly.

This last trip a couple weeks ago was still cold (compared to Fort Lauderdale standards) but the snow was gone. Things were blooming and birds were chirping. I’d missed the bustling city streets and the screaming sirens. To some this may sound strange but to me, the city is where I thrive. While my husband was working, (it was a business trip for him) I explored the streets. I decided to ditch the map and wander instead. I explored all kinds of small boutiques, larger chains (Bergdorfs on Fifth is always a must) and tiny side streets lined with cherry blossoms and townhomes.

During the trip, I relied on my trusty leather jacket from Barney’s (similar here), Dolce Vita combat boots in black (find here) and Seven for all Mankind cropped skinny jeans (find here). I also wore my Vince Camuto “Hillari” ankle wedge boots (find here).

Until next time New York City!

Etiquette Boutique Grand Opening Party

Etiquette BoutiqueEtiquette Boutique, one of my favorite women’s boutiques here in South Florida, recently opened their second location and their celebrating with a grand opening party this Thursday, May 1st at 7pm in the Union Planters Plaza shopping center at at 2368 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale.

Etiquette boutiques are locally-owned by mother and son team, Nola and David Harris who have owned a string of successful boutiques in Nashville, Tennessee and Louisville, Kentucky. After researching all of South Florida for about five months, they decided Fort Lauderdale was the clear choice for their flagship of Etiquette stores opening the first boutique in early 2012. The styles inside Etiquette Boutique are hand-selected and offer a mix of both investment and trendy pieces. Filling a void in the Fort Lauderdale shopping scene, Etiquette offers savvy shoppers an alternative to malls and online shopping with affordable pieces to round out their wardrobe. With about 70 new styles arriving weekly, the selection is perpetually changing – giving fashion enthusiasts all the more reason to check back often. Etiquette only pulls about six of each style to ensure the dreaded “OMG-she’s-wearing-the-same-dress” moment is avoided whenever possible.

During the event on Thursday evening, myself, along with four other wonderful fashion bloggers — Afroza from Chic Stylista, Alaina from Sky Style Couture Life, Anj from Styled With Poise, and April from April Golightly will be styling Spring & Summer looks using the boutique’s clothing and accessories thanks to Aileen from Newsy Parents. The event will also include live entertainment and cocktails.

Petite Wrists? No Problem!

Being short comes with it’s many challenges. From clothing not fitting correctly, to simply trying to reach something on the upper shelf, it’s never easy. Having tiny wrists isn’t connected to my height but it’s just another challenge I find myself facing every day. I’ve always loved bracelets but when it comes to finding a bangle that actually fits my wrist it’s a challenge. I wear my watch everyday and it fits just right because I had (lots and lots) of links removed but for a bangle that’s all one piece or a cuff bracelet it’s a whole other story. I have a pile of bangles that I’ve accumulated over the years (don’t ask me how or why since they don’t fit) but they just sit there collecting dust. When I do put them on, they fall right off or if they aren’t falling off, they’re hitting my hand right at my thumb and my pinky knuckle forcing me to push them up all the time. Do you have this problem too?

Recently, I was contacted by Elaine at Dainty Wrist Jewelry offering me a couple bracelets from her collection. I have to admit I was hesitant at first because I’ve tried bracelets that were “for small wrists” before and they never actually seemed to be any smaller than what I had already but when these bracelets from Dainty Wrist Jewelry showed up, I was sold! I’ve worn them almost everyday since receiving them. They’re the perfect size for my wrist and they’re beautiful too. The quality is amazing and I’ve received so many compliments already.

Dainty Wrists Jewelry is an online jewelry boutique that offers handcrafted artisan bracelets and fashion bracelets, all specially made to fit petite wrists. Their collection of petite wrist jewelry includes watches, charm bracelets, beaded bracelets, leather bracelets, bangles, cuff bracelets, wrap bracelets and more, all exclusively designed to fit petite wrists. Petite wrists rejoice!!

Here’s a photo of my Silver and Gold Sparkle Cuff bracelet and my Gold Filled Multi Textured Bangles bracelet.  I’ve been stacking them both together and they look great. During the day when I’m a bit more casual I’ll wear just the multi textured bangles by themselves. Head over to Dainty Wrist Jewelry and check out all the amazing pieces they have — you’ll be happy you did and so will your wrists! :)
