Survey Says…

We surveyed 40 readers, here are the results for a few of the Q’s:

Do you consider yourself petite and why?
Everyone considered themselves petite. Which was what I was hoping, since they’re readers of Petite Fashionista.com.
I was happy to see a wide variety of sizes though. PF readers range from 80 lbs, size 00 to very busty and curvy petites.

The average height of PF readers is: 4’11!
No need to feel short ever again! I was really surprised by this height. There were a lot of 4’10 and 4’11’s, a bunch of 5’2’s and very few 5’3’s and no 5’4’s.

Where do you shop for clothes?

What obstacles do you find challenging when shopping?
Here’s a selection of the answers:

1. “Everything, I’m a 34DD and I swear, finding a top that’s flattering is plain ridiculous. Either they’re cut too low or not low enough or showing too much here and there…I don’t want to have my boobs hanging out, but it seems like all the tops I like are fit like that. And don’t even get me started on jeans…I’ve just recently found a pair at Banana that fit just right…it only took me a few years!”

2.”Shoes that don’t fit! Tops that are too long or wide or the shoulders hang too far down or the sleeves are too long – I could go on and on! I always have to hem my pants.

3. “Even the ‘short’ petite pants are too long and I have to have them altered. The ‘smalls’ are too big. I rejoice when there’s an extra small available!”

Do you have small feet?
The average shoe size is

5.5

I too am surprised by the shoe size! And height! I was expecting people to be around 5’1 or 5’2. Maybe people who are that height pretend that they don’t have a problem with clothes? Who knows. Anyway, in terms of shoes….I recently bought a pair of size 5s….on sale! This is only the second time in my life that it’s happened! I’ll probably have a post about it in my blog in the next few days. Today, I just wanted to talk about petite celebs.

These reusults make me feel great I I 4’11 and having always felt sooo short in a crown I need to stand next to all the others my size.

I’m about 5’1.75″ and feel too tall, lol. Wish I was shorter.

I was surprised at the average height and shoe size as well. I know how much of a problem I have finding clothes and shoes (5.5 – 6), so I know others must have an even tougher time. Crazy. You’d think the fashion industry would start to notice we’re not the sizes they think we are…

I wear size 4.5 shoes and have a list of websites I check every other night. Mostly Zappos, eBay, Shoes.com (terrible selection), Shoebuy.com (also terrible), and Nordstroms.

I just tried buying some shoes from Cinderella of Boston (which is actually in Westminster, Cali.) but my heels kept coming out of the back when I walked.

P.S.: Cinderella of Boston is offering $10 off for every pair you buy, now until Nov. 25th. Yipeee.

I’m 4’11-1/2″ and wear 4.5 in women’s shoes. Its hard for me to find small shoes that doesnt look like nuns would wear them. Best site for women w/ small feet, Giordano’s: http://www.petiteshoes.com/ They have a store in Manhattan on 2nd Ave, but if you dont live close by just sign up for their catalogs. They carry high end brands such as Christian Lacroix and Stuart Weitzman. FYI: Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin run their sizes 1/2 size smaller than what is marked as US size, so size 5’s fit me perfectly.
