Tired of Pants that are Too Long?

There’s a line of shorter pants in the works. Here’s what designer, Sunny has to say:

“How it all started…

Ever since I learned to sew, women and their sons have brought me their
pants to hem. I always accepted the work, until one day I started to ask
them, “why don’t you just buy pants that fit?” Nearly everyone told me
there’s nothing in the stores for their height!

All of these accomplished women were 5’2″ or under.

I never realized how true this was until I grew out of my college phase, and
had to buy suitable apparel for work myself (I’m 5’2 ½”). After hours and
hours of trying on pants after pants, I became very tired and aggravated. It
was really difficult to find pants that was not too tight, sagging in the wrong
places, or dragging the floor. Sometimes the “petite” pants were too
long. It made me feel horrible.

I started to dream of a clothing line for women who are 5’2” and under.

My company, 5 ft 2 in, is an apparel company that is specializing in pants
for women who are 5’2″ and under.

My goal is to provide petite women with more clothing option to dress like
the professional, accomplished, and polished women they are. I want
petite women to feel good about themselves, and their height.”

  1. finally! it’s nice that designers are finally taking notice of shorter people…

I’m asian, and asian people are getting taller. MUCH taller. average korean woman height is about 5’7″ now.

apparently my family didn’t get this amazing new gene. my mom’s 4’9″, my sister’s 4’10″, and I’m 4’11.5″

God wouldn’t give me that last bit. lol

I shop at kids sections for plain jeans and slacks. ^_^

    Soi,

I’d guess that the 5’7″ height for Korean women would be for the late teen/early 20something crowd only. According to a 2004 article Chosun.com (http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200406/200406240048.html) the average Korean woman is 160.6 cm, which is 5’3 1/4″. According to Wikipedia, the average height is just under 5’3 1/2.” (they say the sample comes from a bunch of 17 year olds, but I don’t know when that was taken…could be the late 90s.)

And this article seems to claim that 19 year old girls are about 5’3 1/2″ as well

Where did you get 5’7? That’s the height of the average woman in the Netherlands.

  3. lol it’s not a statistic…

while i was in korea, everyone ages 15-30 i saw were at least 5’5″. I NEVER saw anyone 5’3″…

or maybe 1 person…and i think that was my sister lol

    Soi,

Don’t forget that the average height in the US and Canada is 5’4″ yet it seems like the women are much taller.
