I’m 4′ 11 ½ and several years ago I was at a club with friends, sitting at a large, round table. The hostess came up to the table, stood right behind me and said “folks, I’m sorry but everyone in your party has to be at least 21, no children are allowed in this club”. We all sputtered, “what do you mean children!” And she put her hands on my shoulders and said, “we can’t have a child in here, we’d be breaking the law.” She meant me! Boy was my face red!! When I turned around and she saw that I was an adult she was so apologetic and kept saying “but you were so tiny in that seat I thought for sure you were a child!”
And that was the lightbulb moment! The SittingTaller Handbag was born.

I can wear high heels if I want to stand taller but what about when I sit down? I’m sick of being the short person at a restaurant table full of my friends. I can’t lean out far enough to talk to someone two seats down. Half the time I can’t even get my upper body over the table to eat without looking like a little kid. And how do you lean elegantly towards your date when you’re in a romantic restaurant if the upper half of your body is barely over table height?
And at concerts, movies, the theater? I went to hear Belle and Sebastian a while ago and I struggled to see them over the head of the person in front of me. I switched seats with my husband (he’s 6′ 2″), that didn’t help, so I ended up sitting on my scrunched up coat, wiggling around and just being plain bummed out.
THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN ANY MORE! I created the SittingTaller Handbag. It’s this awesome leather bag, the size of a tote bag, with a built in “Petite Seat Lift”. It gives me 3 inches of seated height. I carry it like a handbag with my stuff inside. I sell it with an envelope clutch bag to carry a wallet, cell phone, lipstick etc. You take out the clutch before you sit down! It’s changed my life!
To introduce PetiteFashionista readers to Sitting Taller I’m giving 1 bag away.
